where food & fitness find a healthy balance


The inspiration:

As many of you know I gave birth to my second son on August 10, 2010. When Tommy was 2 months old his nursing habits were getting very strange. I called the doctor with my concerns. She asked me many questions about my lifestyle and eating habits. She asked me what I had eaten that day (it was 4 p.m. when we had the conversation). I couldn't remember and what I did remember were 3 Luna bars and a large coffee--definitely embarassing to report. It was so sad that I had no idea what I had eaten. From that moment on, I knew my lifestyle choices were affecting my family and most importantly the fuel Tommy needs to grow and develop properly. That is how this challenge evolved!

The Challenge:

Just make a commitment to get yourself moving each day and find creative & easy ways to eat healthy. I know most of you are busy, on-the-go professionals, parents & students....no excuse, you can have a healthy lifestyle. If I can do it, so can you! With the encouragement of your team, make each other accountable for your day to day habits. The next 6 weeks will be a lot of work, but worth it! The results will surprise you!


The Rules:

1) Commit to exercising 30 minutes a day, 6 days a week (walking counts).
You receive points for each workout, and bonus points for working out with a group of people.

2) Hold yourself accountable for your food and drink intake. You will log all meals, snacks and drinks… every day.
Share your log with your team. You will receive points for every vegetable and fruit serving (and bonus points for the “food of the week”).

3) Attend 2 or more DanceFIT classes a week. 

4) Log the amount of hours you sleep each night.

5) Log your daily water intake.

6) Participate in the mini-challenges each week.

7) All participants need to have a Gmail account in order to access the shared spreadsheet.



How 6FIT works:


You will be placed in a team with 6 DanceFIT participants (many of whom have never met). You will be connected to your teammates via e-mail, social media & your food/ exercise logs. Your team will compete against other DanceFIT teams & 6FIT Remote teams for prizes. Each team will have access to a shared spreadsheet where you can see all of the meals and workout logs of your team members. There will be weekly food and fitness challenges and competitions with prizes!




Your $155 6FIT package includes:

- 14 Discounted DanceFIT classes (Must all be used during the 6 weeks. NO EXCEPTIONS!)

- 6FIT Kick Off Information Session: Monday, April 4th 8:15-9:00 p.m.

- Halfway There Workshop: Monday, April 25th 8:15-9:00 p.m.

- 6FIT Wrap Up Workshop: Monday, May 15th 8:15-9:00 p.m.

- Mini home workouts

- Access to your groups fitness/ food log

- Daily inspiration and fit tips

- Outstanding prizes for individual winners & the winning team!



 
The fine print:

- No refunds if you drop out of the challenge (which we hope you don't do!)
- Classes do not carry over.  You have to use your 14 classes during the 6FIT session.
- Your classes cannot be shared with a friend. 
- If you begin this challenge after it has started, the fee is still $155 and you have to use 14 classes within the 6 weeks.
